Managing Director & Practice Head

Grant Casteel is a Managing Director and the Head of Houlihan Capital's Valuation and Financial Advisory (“VFA”) practice. As Practice Head, Mr. Casteel is responsible for the effective execution of VFA’s strategic goals, and he works closely with the COO and VFA leadership to optimize the day-to-day functions and allocation of resources for the practice. Additionally, as a Managing Director, Mr. Casteel supervises project work across various engagements and collaborates with junior colleagues to ensure the timeliness and quality of deliverables to VFA’s clients.

Mr. Casteel is experienced in the appraisal of common stock, preferred stock, financial derivatives, and fixed income instruments of private and public companies in a broad range of industries. He has performed valuations for myriad purposes, including financial reporting (ASC 820, 718, 805, and 350), tax reporting (gift & estate and charitable contribution), strategic planning, and transaction opinion (fairness, solvency, and capital adequacy). In recent years, he has focused on advising venture capital fund clients, helping them overcome the unique challenges posed by early-stage company valuation in pursuit of audit-defensibility and accurate stakeholder reporting.

Prior to joining Houlihan Capital in 2015, Mr. Casteel started his career at Duff & Phelps (now Kroll). He holds a Master of Arts in Economics from Washington University in St. Louis and a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of Missouri. Mr. Casteel is a CFA® Charterholder.
