William Butrym

Board Member & Senior Advisor

William J. Butrym is a Board Member and Senior Advisor of Houlihan Capital.  In these roles, Mr. Butrym advises the Firm’s clients and Firm executives on strategic and financial matters.  Mr. Butrym served as CEO of Houlihan Capital since its formation and through its sale to the employees through an ESOP transaction in May 2024. Before joining Houlihan Capital, Mr. Butrym formed and co-managed a hedge fund in the Asset Based Lending Sector and was responsible for all operational aspects of the portfolio. As a hedge fund advisor, Mr. Butrym focused on creating solutions for clients. He has extensive experience in structuring and managing leverage facilities, financing, due diligence and hedge fund restructuring strategies, including the formation of side pocket/liquidating trusts, redemptive share class offerings, exit financing for portfolios and sales of advisors. 

Mr. Butrym started his career at Arthur Andersen. He held various roles of increasing responsibility in his 24 years at the firm, including Managing Partner of Global Strategic Development and Deployment and Managing Partner of Global Operations, Markets and Solutions. In these roles, Mr. Butrym was dedicated to all aspects of strategy development, risk assessment, finance, operations and all related back-office functions. Mr. Butrym holds a MBA and BSBA from Creighton University.
